The advent of the internet has led to a new era of technology unity that has brought closer many discrete technologies that could not have been thought to have any relevance at all. Sure, we can deliver an email from our GPRS triggered mobile system, but can the reverse be possible? Can we send text messages online to our mobile gadgets? That too at free of cost. Well, the response is yes and we all have used online SMS based websites many times, either regularly or just for the sake of examining if it actually works then it merely boasts of.
The best and the most visually attractive aspects are the phrases ‘absolutely free messaging system’ and sometimes, ‘unlimited’ too can make us happy. But as a user have you ever considered how this is made possible? Have you ever thought about what’s happening behind such services? Here we will examine what exactly happens behind the whole process by which all of us are able to make use of the powerful free text messaging system. Here we go.
The Internet and SMS Systems Collaboration
Well, the first and foremost thing we need is a normal computer terminal with a modern internet browser and a high-speed internet line from a quality internet service provider. We then check out on any website providing free SMS assistance, and then we sign-up for a user account. Some websites allow delivering SMS as visitors, i.e. without any forms of any user registration. To deliver an SMS via the internet, a user interface is provided to the website service users that allow them to get into the location mobile number and the written text Concept. Usually, the assistance is provided on a nationwide base through a messaging system gateway implementing local message delivering system design, i.e. we are permitted to deliver information on numbers from the same country alone, but a few top-quality websites may offer to send text message online worldwide too.
The scope of an internet SMS begins in the system interface when you have to simply select the deliver SMS option after typing the text message to be delivered. The internet is a problem of various methods that help us to get around through the World Large Web. One of the most common types implemented is the HTTP (Hyper Written text Exchange Protocol), which does an effective cross-linking and routing of various nodes of the webspace. The text message sent by the user may traverse the web in various methods like HTTP, HTTPS (HTTP + SSL encryption), SMTP (email to SMS), FTP and XML over HTTP/HTTPS.
Conclusion
An SMS gateway helps as a message protocol (rule) converter between two different technologies. An SMS gateway helps to convert mobile network messages into other forms of media. This approach is mostly used by premium online messaging services to send text message online and requires the operator’s intent to use its resources, based on the rules and agreements of the network.

This is good post, however it does not address the “free” part. The very simple truth is that there is no such thing as “free” SMS – this is commercial service provided by network operators and you always pay for it one way or another – just sometimes not with money.. By sending “free” SMS you provide the website with confirmed cell phone number of your friends or family – which is very valuable information for marketing etc. Commercial sites usually have some privacy statement that at least promises your data will not be disclosed – but you will not find it on “free” websites. So in the end it is your choice of how to pay.
