Streaming services and the demand for them continue to grow all the time. If you’re looking for content that’s recent and that’s among the best available, then consider HBO Max. However, if you’re looking for a larger selection that has more original content, then consider one of the classics, such as Netflix. There are a few that haven’t been around long enough to make much of an impression, such as Paramount Plus, but with the variety that’s available, the newer services look to be catching up to those that have been around for years. Aside from movies, there’s also live TV that you can enjoy, making it a little easier to cut the cable cord to your home so that you can save a little money each month. You’ll usually get a bill each month from the streaming service that you choose with many of them offering a free trial for a few days to a week. Keep in mind that you can cancel your subscription at any time as you’re not locked into the service. Since cable services appear to be dwindling, you’ve probably seen better smart TVs as well that can handle the quality of the streaming services that are available in order to view the content in the best manner possible.
The Best Out There
Netflix was at the top of the list of streaming services until HBO Max entered the equation. HBO Max is an option for people who enjoy going to the movies but don’t want to leave home. There’s a good combination of new releases as well as classics for all ages in the family. Although Sling TV is a bit more expensive at $35 a month, it does offer more options, and the app that’s been created for the service is easy to use. If you like sports, then Fubo TV is a good option to consider. However, it does run about $30 a month as well.
HBO Max
You’ll pay about $10 a month for the service with ads. You can watch movies and shows on up to three devices at one time, making it easy for most of the people in your home to enjoy their favorite shows. Although it doesn’t offer live TV, there are originals that are only seen on HBO Max. You can watch on a variety of platforms including Xbox One, iPod Touch, smart TVs, and Android. This service offers quite a few of the classic movies that you might not be able to find on a cable lineup. You can easily make a list of your favorites so that you can go back and watch them later.
Netflix
This is another service that’s about $10 a month. It doesn’t offer live TV, but you can watch on up to four devices. There are fewer platforms that are compatible with Netflix, but you can watch on more of the recent platforms including Roku and PS4. There’s a good selection of movies and shows for all ages, and the categories are easy to look through with everything being organized by genre and age groups. Several originals are available on the service, which is what sets it apart from others.
Disney Plus
If you have children in the home or you’re just young at heart, then this is a service that you want to choose. It’s only $8 a month, making it very affordable for the wide selection of shows and movies that are available. You can stream on up to four devices at one time while using platforms that include Chromebooks, smart TVs, Android, Samsung, and Roku. There is an option to pay for the service for an entire year at $79.99. Aside from Disney, you can watch content from Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars among other selections.
Hulu
This is a service that’s ideal for cutting the cable cord as it offers a large assortment of older and newer TV shows, movies, and live TV. If you want the live TV option, you’re going to pay a little more each month at $65. You can only watch content on two devices, but there are more platform options with Hulu including Fire Tablets, Android, PlayStation 4, and Xbox. This is an option for when you’re looking for almost any genre, such as crime shows, cartoons, medical dramas, or romantic movies. The service tends to offer suggestions about what you might like depending on the content that you’ve already watched or that you’ve added to your favorites. There are several commercials that you have to get through along with some seasons missing from the older television shows.
Sling TV
At $35 a month, Sling TV is one of the most expensive services out there, but you can watch live TV. There are no originals, and it doesn’t offer as many platform options as some of the other services. Even though there are no original selections, there’s a variety of content available. It’s a no contract TV, and it’s a cheaper option than cable for most families. There are more sports options with the service, which is something to consider if you like football, basketball, and other games.
Amazon Prime
This is a pricey service at $119 a year. If you have an Amazon Prime membership, then you get this service already. There’s no live TV, but there are originals available, which is what sets Amazon Prime apart as there are more originals than with other services. Devices that can be used with the service include most game systems, Blu-ray, and iPhones. If you like to shop online and are already on Amazon, then this is a good option for you since you get the service with your membership. A recent deal has been struck with MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon, which means that there is even more content available for more viewers.
Peacock
You’ll be able to watch most content for free, but you’ll have to put up with ads unless you move up to a premium account for $4.99 a month. There aren’t as many platforms but those that are compatible include Apple TV, Roku, and the newer devices that are on the market. WWE events are seen live as well as many live shows and news broadcasts, which is a benefit of this service. There’s also quite a bit of classic content.
